The ScareCrows of London, unlike their Rustic Kith and Kin, are typically found in more apprehensive spaces than Fields and Farms. In the Great Conurbation the unrelenting and cynical pressures of Development, Gentrification and Commercialisation ever encroach and threaten our Historical Commons. It is in the Enclaves of Resistance, the Allotments and the Community Gardens, that we find this Transfigural Being. The Human-but-not-too-Human ScareCrow occupies a Space between Agricultural Function and Magical Thinking finding new meaning under FolkLore with a healthy dollop of The Uncanny.
